Tree fell on a house. Tree fell on house and damaged house.

There are many ways to properly secure your home for winter storms. Summer and early fall is the ideal times to get all of this complete before the terrible winter storms hit. The first thing to consider is making sure that all hazards are cleared away and you secure any and all openings so that water and any other elements don’t find there ways in.

  1. Check your roof for stability. With high winds comes look shingles. Examine your roof for any loose or visibly damaged shingles. Or have a contractor determine what needs to be fixed.
  2. Make sure that all of your drainage is aimed away from your house. If a storm should occur, the amount of water getting aimed at your home can become a water disaster very quickly.
  3. Remove any trees or debris that can cause unneeded damage to your home. Trees are responsible for the majority of damage to homes during winter storms.
